Some stories feel like they were written on purpose, and Caitlin and Brennan’s Sintra destination wedding is one of them. Almost eight years earlier, Caitlin rented a room in Brennan’s mum’s house, not knowing he lived there too.
It was pure chance that brought them together.
That same chance eventually led them to Sintra, for a fairytale-themed wedding at Casa Holstein.

When Caitlin and Brennan started thinking about where to get married, they wanted somewhere that matched their story, a little unexpected and full of character. As soon as they visited Casa Holstein, they knew they had found the right place. The fairytale theme didn’t need much deciding, it grew naturally out of the venue itself.
The day started with a moment that broke away from the traditional timeline: instead of leaving everything for after the ceremony, Caitlin and Brennan chose to do a first look, before heading to the altar.

Casa Holstein is a 19th century manor house turned boutique hotel
In the historic centre of Sintra, surrounded by hectares of private gardens, forest and parkland. It’s the kind of place that feels like it stepped out of a storybook, with old façades, walled gardens and views across the hills of the Sintra mountains and towards the National Palace of Sintra.

The venue is large enough to host the ceremony
It’s easy to see why so many couples pick Casa Holstein for a Sintra destination wedding. The venue is large enough to host the ceremony, the photo session and the party without leaving the property, while still keeping an intimate kind of feel.
For couples coming from abroad, that makes logistics much simpler. It creates the sense of stepping into their own private setting for an entire weekend.

Sintra is one of my favourite places to photograph, and this wedding was a good reminder why. Getting to spend a day with Caitlin and Brennan, in a venue as special as Casa Holstein, is exactly the kind of day I look forward to

The gardens and greenery around the property gave a perfect backdrop for Caitlin and Brennan’s photo session, and the ceremony took place surrounded by that same green, away from the bustle of Sintra town yet only a few minutes from it.

As the evening set in, dinner brought a whole new mood to the day. Fairy lights were strung across the garden, turning Casa Holstein into a fairytale, which suited Caitlin and Brennan’s theme perfectly.

Between courses, toasts and the soft glow all around, the evening was one of the highlights of the whole celebration.
