I had never heard of the place, but the moment I searched for it I got completely lost exploring what looked like such an original venue. By the time I finally met the couple, the story had become even more interesting.

Why get married at Hotel Convento de São Paulo?
Built in 1182 on the Serra d’Ossa, between Estremoz and Redondo, Convento de São Paulo doesn’t need much to win you over. The walls covered with the largest private tile collection in the country create a setting no decorator could replicate, and every corner — from the cloisters to the old monks’ cells — carries history behind it. For international couples coming to Portugal looking for something off the beaten track, it’s hard to do better: deep Alentejo, regional cuisine, and a silence that only exists in places with centuries of memory.

Wedding at Hotel Convento de São Paulo
As the day gave way to night, the atmosphere gradually loosened up. From dinner in the cloisters to dancing in that historic space, the party grew in energy and good spirits — largely thanks to DJ Jukebox, who also delivered some of the best lighting I’ve ever seen at a wedding.
