If there are places that seem made to celebrate love, a wedding at Quinta do Castilho is certainly one of them. Located in a peaceful setting, with a private chapel and versatile spaces for civil or religious ceremonies, this century-old estate has been the stage for unforgettable celebrations — and 2025 will be no different.
Today I’m sharing the story of Mariana and Bruno’s wedding, a day filled with emotion, smiles, and a sunset worthy of a postcard.

A wedding at Quinta do Castilho
I met Mariana and Bruno at the beginning of 2019. They reached out to me through a wedding planner, Outlux.
Mariana and Bruno started the day at a charming B&B nearby, where they got ready surrounded by their closest friends and family. Between nervous laughter and morning toasts, the atmosphere already suggested that it would be a memorable day.
When they arrived at Quinta do Castilho, everything was perfectly set. Surrounded by nature and classic architecture, the venue created an intimate and elegant setting for the ceremony. As a photographer, I love venues with history, and this estate has exactly that special soul — you can almost feel the memories of other times in every corner.

A Surprise from the Couple: A Slideshow from the Same Day!
On this day I decided to try something different. During the dinner break, I selected some of the best photos taken up to that point and created a slideshow with them. It was my surprise for the couple, which was projected during a break in the party.

Mariana’s reaction when she saw the images was priceless. With tears in her eyes, she came over to me and whispered emotionally:
“João, this completely changed my perception of the day! Thank you!”
I think this is one of the main reasons why I love photographing weddings. The day goes by in the blink of an eye for the couple, and having the opportunity to show them — while the celebration is still happening — how everything is being captured is something truly special.
