For me it is always a great pleasure to photograph a wedding at Quinta dos Machados. It has become one of my favorite spaces since I first visited in 2019 as a guest to celebrate my birthday. Little did I know that a few months later I would photograph my first wedding there!
Two years and several marriages later, it became one of my favorite wedding farms. However, Joana and André’s wedding was special because it was the first time I photographed a ceremony there.

Joana and André – a friendship that turned into marriage
Joana and André have a beautiful story. After being friends for years, they began dating. They live in the United Arab Emirates and it was there that, after a year and a half of relationship, André asked Joana to marry him during a weekend camping in the middle of nature.
I have fond memories of when I lived in the Emirates. In the midst of so many cultures, nationalities, ethnicities and religions I fully understand the importance of friendship with someone with whom we identify. With a couple as beautiful as Joana and André, this friendship could only have turned into love!

A wedding in the forest of Quinta dos Machados
Quinta dos Machados is the ideal place to have a wedding in the forest. There are not many wedding spaces in Portugal with such a beautiful forest where a wedding can be held. And it is undoubtedly the ideal space for a couple who likes nature so much that they usually camp – and that’s where the wedding proposal happened!

How to plan a wedding at a distance
If planning a wedding is hard enough, then doing it from a distance is much worse! Joana and André made the right decision when they decided to hire a wedding planner! They are not helped to choose the ideal place for the wedding but also dealt with all the planning, with the advantage of the accumulated experience planning so many weddings over the years.
The truth is that the weddings I photograph with Wedding Planners always go well and without major mishaps maybe. Unfortunately the same can not always be said of other marriages, where lack of experience causes anxiety and invariably some things become forgotten or do not receive due attention.
